Mark came at the parable from an angle that many of us weren't expecting: we can control how much we sow the seed of the Good News, but we can't control the results of the planting. We can't control the "birds" of life that might steal the seed. We have to remember quick results do not necessarily mean lasting results. We have to keep in mind there is competition for our message. We must trust that God is the one who multiplies the results of our planting.
Mark ended by challenging us all to be the Johnny Appleseeds of our community--planting the Good News wherever we can and letting God produce the results.
